A better way to work in care

Oakma is a small, local team in Telford that's building something different.

We're looking for people who genuinely care, and in return we'll support you properly, train you well, and treat you as the professional you are.

A note from our founder

A few years ago, people I love needed care at home. I live in rural Shropshire, and finding good, reliable support turned out to be much harder than it should have been. That experience stayed with me.

I'm a technologist by background. When I see a problem that keeps repeating, my instinct is to ask why the system is set up that way and whether it could be different.

The more I looked at care, the clearer it became. Carers are doing one of the most important jobs there is, and too often they're paid poorly, given uncertain hours, and left to absorb the cost of travelling between visits. That's not fair, and it doesn't have to be that way.

Oakma exists because we believe technology can take care of the paperwork and administration, so the money saved can go where it belongs. To the people doing the caring. Guaranteed hours, full pay for travel, and a wage that properly reflects the work. A real job, with real terms.

If you're thinking about joining us, I hope that means something to you. It means everything to us.
